Healthy Detox Juice

This juice just looks perfect for summer, right? Well, it would be a shame to limit our availability of juices to just one season – which is why I want to share this amazing juice recipe with you as we lead into winter and go along with our organic green detox juice.

As pineapples are so delicious, it is easy to forget how healthy they are!

Health Benefits of Pineapple

Pineapples are a great source of antioxidants which help your body combat oxidative stress. These antioxidants may reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and certain cancers. It is also important to note that the antioxidants in pineapples have longer lasting effects in the body given that these are “bound” antioxidants.

Pineapples are a tremendous source for Vitamin C and Manganese. As we all know, Vitamin C is essential for growth and development, a healthy immune system and aiding the absorption of iron from the diet. Manganese is a naturally occurring mineral that aids growth and maintains a healthy metabolism in order to maintain the living state of the cells and the organism in the body [1].

We include a teaspoon of flaxseeds into this juice, as the taste when mixed is neutral and is a good way to boost omega-3 fatty acids and protein in your daily diet. In fact, just the one teaspoon will provide over 50% of the recommended daily intake of Omega 3’s!

The celery, carrots and ginger have amazing nutritional benefit in their own right, and their combination with the other ingredients makes this juice that much healthier and tastier.

  • 1 tsp. 1 flaxseed (optional)

  • 1 tsp. 1 chia seeds (optional)

  • 2/3 cup 2/3 water

  • Handful ice cubes

  • Wash the pineapple, celery and carrot well, chop into small pieces and add into your juicer or blender. *

Notes

  • * The large fruit and vegetable pieces sitting at the bottom will assist the blending of the flaxseeds and chia seeds.
  • ** Be sure to drink the juice as soon as it has been blended. This is because the nutrients of the juice degrade over time due to oxygen exposure.
  • TO STORE: This juice can last about 24 hours in the fridge without losing any nutrients if sealed properly. Notwithstanding the nutrients degrading after 24 hours, you can store this juice in the fridge for up to 48 hours.
